SUPER LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Are you fed up with monthly waxing, ingrown hair, painful plucking, bleaching or suffer from sensitive skin after shaving? At Teresa Tarmey you’ll find the solution to your never ending fight with unwanted hair.

Soprano is one of the most popular, most effective and comfortable laser hair removal options these days. It provides a pain-free experience and more importantly, unlike many other laser treatments, it’s suited pretty much every skin type and skin tone.

Diode systems are amongst the newest available for hair removal applications. Soprano is a ‘gold-standard’ award-winning laser technology that is currently one of the safest on the market. It is suitable for both men and women and removes hair from anywhere on the body, including your top lip, underarms, legs and bikini line. Men commonly try to get rid of hair on the back and chest as well as facial hair.

The laser light safely passes through the skin and is then attracted to the pigment at the hair root where the heat from the laser is absorbed to destroy hair follicles at their base; this way they’re no longer able to produce hair. Hair grows in cycles and the laser works only during the anagen or “growing/active phase” of hair growth. Therefore, multiple treatments are needed at regular spaced intervals to treat all of the hair in a treatment area for significant reduction of hair growth. You will notice a reduction after each session until eventually, after a typical course of 6-8 treatments, the hair will stop growing. Appointments are spread out around 4-8 weeks apart depending on the treatment area.

It is worth noting that our bodies have the ability to repair themselves and dormant hair follicles can become active years later, so you may find you need to book in for a top up maintenance sessions even after you’ve completed your full treatment program.’

Hair removal treatment process

1. MANDATORY PATCH TEST CONSULTATION

Whether it’s your first contact with laser treatments or you have already experienced laser hair removal – first step is to book a patch test consultation with our experienced aesthetic therapists. It will help us find out about your medical history, how your hair growth affects you and the areas you would like us to treat. The whole treatment process will be fully explained to you and a patch test will be performed to evaluate the skin response prior to full treatment.

2. BEFORE TREATMENT

Before each laser hair removal session you will need to have shaved the area to be treated so that the therapist can get to work straight away.

3. DURING TREATMENT

A thick layer of cold gel will be applied to the targeted skin and you will also get a pair of safety glasses to wear. The laser is passed over the area multiple times. The hand-held device uses an IN-MotionTM technique to deliver pulses of infrared diode laser technology to gradually heat and destroy your active hair follicles, and a DualChillTM treatment tip to keep your skin cool at all times.

No need for anaesthetic or numbing cream. Depending on how sensitive you are some mild discomfort may be experienced during the laser hair removal treatment. As laser penetrates the follicle it creates warm and/or pin-pricking sensation. In some cases laser energy might be delivered in pulses that will feel like a snap of an elastic band.

The laser will not cause any damage to your skin.

4. AFTER TREATMENT

Immediately after treatment, you may experience some redness and swelling of hair follicles in the treatment areabut this should not last longer than 24 hours.

You should avoid direct sun light and treat the skin gently for the first 24 hours and limit the exposure to any factors that can further aggravate the skin condition such as very hot showers, sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool (to avoid any infection).

We recommend wearing SPF on all areas that cannot be covered.

Anywhere from 5-14 days after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur and this appears as new hair growth. This is NOTnew hair growth.
